Physical Education, Physical Activity & Sport (PEPAS)
We believe in a partnership approach in the development of PE and School Sport

Our Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport (PEPAS) partnership ensures that the planning of school sport and PE is well coordinated and delivered to a high standard.

We believe that Physical Education will develop a child’s skills, knowledge, capabilities and attributes required to be physically literate. We also recognise that progressive, coherent and inclusive learning experience should enable all young people to access and be successful in physical activity and sport.

Our key aims are:

  • To provide good quality PE in Schools.

  • Increase opportunities to access physical activity within school day.

  • Reduce barriers to participation -   Provide free opportunities for personal achievement and to be active participants in the life of the school.

  • Develop pathways from the schools into local community sports clubs to provide further participation opportunities for our children and young people.

Our Partnership

Dundee has a well-established PEPAS strategy group chaired by Audrey May our Head of Service (Chief Education Officer, Children and Families Service).  The group is made up from different people and organisations across Schools, PE and Sport.  We have Headteachers from Primary, Secondary and ASN schools, Active Schools Manager, Sportscotland Partnership Manager, PTPE and PE teachers as well as representation from Dundee University.

In addition to our strategy group we also have 1 ASN and 8 cluster groups which supports PEPAS developments within each area.  Our 9 groups are supported by enthusiastic teachers and Active Schools Co-ordinators, who have a passion for PE and Sport.
